The Clinical Observation on Urethritis


Abstract
From January to December, 1975, at O.P.D. of Urology, Seoul Red Cross Hosp, the clinical observation on urethritis was done as the followings.
1) Total numbers of out-patients are 2580. It contains 2199 male and 381 female patients. Sex ratio is 5.8 : 1.
2) Among 25¡Ì0 O.P.D. patients, patients of urethritis are in 434 cases. It shares 297 cases of N.G.U. and 137 gonorrheal urethritis.
3) On the viewpoint of age distribution, 276 cases are in the third decade, and it takes 63.58%. The patients of gonorrheal urethritis distribute much more in young age groups.
4) There are usually episodes of acute or chronic urethritis on their past histories, in 163 cases, one third of patients of urehritis.
5) The urethral discharge is the chief complaint to N.G.U. and gonorrheal urethritis.
6) With urine examination, more W.B.C. are found in gonorrheal urethritis than N.G.U. 82 percents of gonorrheal urethritis are above 31 W.B.C./H.P.F. but only 57% of N.G.U. are 5-15 W.B.C./H.P.F.
7) In N.G.U.,its etiological organisms are E. coli (29.453¢¥0), staphylococcus, (26.71%) and paracolon bacilli (20.55%)
8) Cure rate is 83% in N.G.U., but is 99% in gonorrheal urethritis,
9) Either N.G.U. or gonorrheal urethritis can be healed within 1~3 weeks with the appropriate medications which start in times.
